The Kingdom of Slayers

Drakoria, the Kingdom of Slayers, home to the strongest dragon slayers in the world.

Drakoria is a majestic mountain kingdom built into the towering peaks of a vast mountain range, with part of it nestled underground and another portion carved directly into the mountainside. Many of the kingdom’s most important buildings are located beneath the surface, while its upper structures rise from the stone itself, forming a natural fortress.

Defensive towers are sculpted straight from the cliffs, giving the kingdom a powerful and imposing presence. At the very peak, overlooking everything below, lie the colossal skeletal remains of an ancient dragon, long since dead. Those remains have been integrated into the design of Drakoria’s central castle, making it both a landmark and a symbol of enduring strength.

Drakoria is ruled by two twins born of the same parents but of different races, Scotty the Dwarf and Fiona the Giantess. Their unusual heritage is widely known and often spoken about by those familiar with the kingdom, yet it has never caused mistrust between them or their people. Despite their differences in size and origin, the twins govern together in perfect unity, drawing on their different viewpoints to better lead the kingdom. Their cooperative rule has become one of the defining parts of Drakoria’s identity, respected by both its citizens and its allies.

The kingdom’s economy is built primarily on mining, craftsmanship, and trade. The mountains are rich with minerals and precious stones, and the extensive mines form the economic backbone of Drakoria. The kingdom’s artisans are renowned throughout the world for their skill in creating exceptional jewelry, powerful weapons, and finely crafted tools. Trade routes stretch through the mountains, linking Drakoria to nearby regions and allowing a constant exchange of goods and resources. The most prized resource of all, however, is the mineral known as Drakorium, a rare and valuable substance not found naturally, but created exclusively by the kingdom. It is released for trade only in limited quantities every few years, making it one of the most sought-after commodities tied to Drakoria’s name.

Drakoria’s culture is defined by the fusion of Dwarven grit and Giant tradition, a reflection of its founders and their storied past. The original creator of the kingdom was a Dwarf famed for slaying a legendary dragon, whose skull still rests above the capital and forms part of the royal stronghold. That act of defiance and victory shaped the kingdom’s core values of strength, craftsmanship, and unwavering unity. From childhood, Drakorians are taught to face adversity without fear, embracing the idea that it is better to die standing than live kneeling. The people hold tightly to this identity, honoring their ancestors not through worship, but through emulation and pride. The rhythm of life in Drakoria is built around festivals that mark the mountain’s bounty, the legacy of the dragon’s fall, and the enduring strength of the people. These celebrations are woven into the fabric of the seasons, and some even open their gates to outsiders willing to witness or take part in the traditions.

The kingdom maintains a formidable military force known as the Dragon Knights, composed of Dwarves, Giants, and other mountain-dwelling races trained from a young age to be the best of the best. They are equipped with the finest weapons they can find, along with armor and weaponry carved from the bones and bodies of dragons. To officially become a Dragon Knight, one is required to slay an adult dragon before reaching the age of sixteen.

Once they accomplish this, they are fitted with armor and weapons made from that dragon and granted the right to fight for the kingdom. The people of Drakoria also revere the original King of the kingdom, the Slayer of the Ancient Dragon whose remains dominate their landscape. They do not worship him as a god, but rather respect him and aspire to be like him, a man who could stand at the top of the world and fight for what he desired.

Several key locations define the kingdom’s character and daily life. Dragon’s Maw Keep serves as the central fortress, built within the skeletal remains of the ancient dragon and acting as the royal palace and seat of government. Hammerfall Mines stretch deep through the mountains, rich with minerals and precious stones that support the kingdom’s economy. Stoneheart Plaza stands as the cultural and social heart of Drakoria, where festivals, markets, and public gatherings take place. The Forge of Titans is a grand forge where master craftsmen create renowned weapons and artifacts, and where the kingdom’s minerals are worked for its own use.

The Training Ground of Drakon is the largest training ground in the kingdom, where the Dragon Knights are forged and where dragons are even kept for fighting. High above and spanning across the mountain paths is Skybridge, an expansive bridge connecting different parts of the kingdom while offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

What makes Drakoria stand out most is the way everything about it reflects its history and values. Its buildings and fortifications are seamlessly integrated into the mountain itself and even into the dragon’s remains, creating a kingdom that feels both natural and monumental. Its twin rulers, a Dwarf and a Giantess, symbolize the unity and strength that define the realm, while the blend of Dwarven and Giant traditions gives the kingdom a rich cultural identity built on craftsmanship, strength, and pride.
