This technique isn't meant to simply allow one to use both elements at the same time, but rather, allow the user to use a new type of element that is the fusion of two elements into one.
Pathways:
Stage One: To master the first stage, the user must learn to balance the mana types of two distinct elements within their body, often of conflicting types. This involves deep meditation, understanding the fundamental nature of the chosen elements, and harmonizing their mana with the elemental forces to form a perfect balance between them.
Bonus: Mastering this stage grants the user the ability to blend the properties of two chosen elements, creating basic elemental hybrids.
Backlash: Struggling to control the merged energies can lead to a momentary loss of control and elemental surges within the user, potentially causing self-harm.
Stage Two: In this stage, the user delves deeper into the fusion process, understanding the synergies between the chosen elements. They must refine their control and combination between both the elements, not only requiring them to switch between both elements with ease but also allowing them to control both at the same time. Both elements are required to form as one.
Bonus: Mastering this stage grants the user access to advanced elemental combinations, allowing for complex attacks and enhanced defenses and boosting the capabilities of their new elemental formation by 3x.
Backlash: Mishandling the merged elements might lead to elemental imbalances, causing erratic behavior and elemental discharges; it may even cause internal injuries.
Final Stage: The user achieves mastery when they can effortlessly channel the fused elemental powers, using them with finesse and precision. This stage involves becoming one with the merged elements and understanding their harmonized nature fully. Often making a type of visual core within their minds that acts as their elemental anchor.
Bonus: Mastering this stage grants the user mastery over the combined elements, enabling them to perform devastating, unique attacks and defenses that draw from the fused elemental essence. Granting them a 4x boost to elemental formations of that type.
Backlash: Overexertion can lead to elemental exhaustion, temporarily depriving the user of their ability to manipulate any elemental balance, and can even cause reversion to former stages.
