Alchemical Name: Soul-Eating Worm Pill
Market Region: N/A
Market Price: N/A
Alchemical Rarity: Mythical
Alchemical Information: A forbidden alchemical pill made from soul-stained reagents, parasitic material, and a chosen catalyst matter prepared during the brewing process. The pill is usually black, smooth, and uneven, with faint pink or purple lines moving across it; once swallowed, it dissolves into the consumer’s soul and becomes part of it, staying dormant until the soul interacts with the specific catalyst matter it was made to respond to. Once that happens, the worm wakes and begins eating.
Alchemical Effect: Once consumed, the pill fuses a dormant soul-worm into the user’s soul.
The worm remains inactive until the user’s soul interacts with the chosen catalyst matter. The catalyst matter is decided when the pill is made.
Each time the user’s soul interacts with that matter, the worm eats a small piece of their soul.
As more of the soul is eaten, the worm slowly grows stronger and begins replacing what was lost.
Once the original soul has been fully devoured, the worm becomes the user’s new soul.
This does not kill the user, but instead mutates them.
Alchemical Side Effects:
The pill cannot be safely removed once it fully fuses into the soul.
The process is slow and may take many encounters with the catalyst before the soul is fully eaten.
As the soul is consumed, the user may suffer personality shifts, memory loss, emotional numbness, strange cravings, and changes in their mana.
Once the worm becomes the new soul, the mutation is permanent unless removed through extremely special methods.
Taking another Soul-Eating Worm Pill can cause the soul-worms to devour each other, potentially destroying the user’s soul in the process.
